Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto announced that the local government of Pasig City has unveiled 12 new features of the Maybunga Rainforest Park to coincide with its first anniversary as the city's permanent rainforest park.

Mayor Vico Sotto proudly announced the exciting additions to the park, marking a significant milestone in Pasig's commitment to environmental preservation and community wellness. With a total project cost of only P26.3 million, the park's rehabilitation and enhancements promise to provide residents with world-class recreational experiences while safeguarding precious green spaces for future generations.
Among the new and improved amenities are the Senior Citizens' Park, Kiddie Playland featuring state-of-the-art playground equipment imported from Turkey, Rizal Pavilion, Picnic Grove, Butterfly Garden, Lagoon Pavilion, Pet Park, Chess Pavilion, and renovated treasury office and cashier facilities.
Additionally, the park boasts a Mushroom Modular Growing House, a collaborative project between Rizal Technological University (RTU) and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), showcasing innovative agricultural practices.
Councilors Pao Santiago and Kiko Rustia played pivotal roles in enacting Ordinance No. 26, Series of 2023, which designates Maybunga Rainforest Park as a permanent rainforest park and green space, ensuring its protection from any form of destruction or encroachment.
Mayor Sotto emphasized the significance of this ordinance in preserving the city's remaining rainforest, underscoring Pasig's unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability.
Last year, in celebration of Pasig's 450th founding anniversary, the city government, alongside dedicated volunteers, planted 450 seedlings in the park as a symbolic gesture of gratitude to the environment. These newly planted trees, along with the existing 2,580 trees, contribute to the park's rich biodiversity and ecological sustainability, ensuring a greener and healthier future for Pasig City and its residents.
