In the heart of the bustling metropolis of Metro Manila, a towering figure has emerged, capturing the attention of locals and visitors alike. "The Victor," a monumental public art sculpture, stands as a symbol of triumph and resilience.
Created by the acclaimed Filipino-American artist Jefre Manuel-Figueras, this awe-inspiring structure is not only a visual masterpiece but also a testament to the Filipino spirit and success. Let's delve into the remarkable story of The Victor and its significance in the vibrant landscape of Bridgetowne Estate.
The Victor Statue
The Victor was designed by Filipino-American artist Jefrë. It is mainly made from marine-grade perforated steel art from China. It stands 55 meters (180 ft) on a 5 m (16 ft) podium. It weighs 299.37 tonnes (660,000 lb).
It has a translucent surface which can be lit up with various colors at night through projection mapping.
The Victor is a tribute to deceased businessman John Gokongwei. The statue depicts a man with one arm raised as if it is celebrating a victory. Jefrë also dedicates the statue to the "global Filipino".

A Marvel of Height and Steel
The Victor is not just an art installation; it is a marvel of engineering and design. Rising to an astonishing height of 180 feet, it surpasses iconic landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty in New York City and the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
Crafted from marine-grade perforated stainless steel, this colossal structure weighs an impressive 330 tons, showcasing the seamless fusion of art and durability.
Fil-Am Artistry
At the helm of The Victor's creation is Jefre Manuel-Figueras, a Filipino-American artist based in Orlando. Known for his innovative and impactful works, Jefre has left his mark on the global art scene. The Victor adds another dimension to his portfolio, following his successful major exhibit at the Orlando Museum of Art in November 2020. Jefre's artistic vision has now become a defining feature of Manila's evolving skyline.
Inspired by Filipino Success
The inspiration behind The Victor is deeply rooted in the success story of the late John Gokongwei Jr., a renowned Filipino entrepreneur. Jefre's creation also pays homage to the hardworking spirit of Filipinos both in the Philippines and abroad. It serves as a celebration of triumph over adversity, embodying the heart and soul of the Filipino people.
Resilience in Design
The Victor not only stands tall in stature but is also resilient in design. Constructed with marine-grade perforated steel, the sculpture is built to withstand erosion and heavy storms, ensuring its longevity as a symbol of strength.
The material's unique properties also give The Victor a semi-translucent appearance, providing a stunning visual effect, especially during light shows.
Up Close and Personal
Soon, visitors will have the opportunity to experience The Victor up close and personal. Construction is underway to install stairs that will lead to the base of the monument, allowing people to marvel at its intricacies and take memorable photos beside its reflective feet. This accessibility adds a layer of interactivity, inviting the public to engage with and appreciate the artistry of The Victor.
