EDSA Carousel Bus Stops, Schedule & Fare (Main Busway in Metro Manila)

The EDSA Carousel is a bus rapid transit (BRT) line that is part of the 35 bus routes in Metro Manila. The line has an exclusive right-of-way on a dedicated bus lane called the EDSA Busway which is separated from the normal road traffic in EDSA by concrete barriers and steel bollards.

2023 UPDATE

Effective January 1, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) stopped the free rides program for the EDSA Carousel, which means all passengers must now pay fares when boarding the bus line.

How EDSA Carousel started...

Interim operations began on June 1, 2020, when Metro Manila was placed under a general community quarantine in order to augment the MRT Line 3 due to limited capacity, while full operations began later on July 1, 2020. Intended to be largely served by bus stops along the median, some stops are temporarily served by bus stops on the curbside.

EDSA Carousel (Main Busway in Metro Manila)

The line is operated by the Mega Manila Consortium Corporation and ES Transport and Partners Consortium under the supervision of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

PBBM extends free EDSA Carousel bus rides; Okays free rides for students in MRT-3, LRT-2, and PNR!

President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos, Jr. on Friday approved a memorandum submitted by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) seeking to extend the free EDSA Carousel bus rides and provide free rides for students who will be using the MRT-3, LRT-2, and PNR when in-person classes resume in August.

The memo resulted from President Marcos' recent meeting with transport officials headed by DOTr Secretary Jaime J. Bautista and Executive Secretary Atty. Vic Rodriguez in Malacañang Palace.

"Considering the availability of budget for Service Contracting under GA 2022, the undersigned recommends the continuation of the Libreng Sakay Program for all passengers of the

EDSA Bus Carousel," a portion of the DOTr memo read.

The move will ease the burden of rising living expenses on Filipino families and help them save money, especially with the return of face-to-face classes after more than two years.

The extended Free EDSA Carousel bus rides will last until December 2022.

The DOTr will also implement the Libreng Sakay for Students Program in MRT-3, LRT-2, and the PNR while simultaneously recommending halting free rides for all MRT-3 passengers.

According to the DOTr, current MRT-3 fares are already heavily subsidized, which was vital in its decision to recommend discontinuing the free rides for all MRT-3 passengers.

"Considering the welfare of students, however, whose learning outcomes have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic, the undersigned recommends implementing a Libreng Sakay for Students Program for the First Quarter of School Year 2022-2023, or from 22 August 2022 to 04 November 2022. The Libreng Sakay for students will be implemented in MRT-3. LRT-2, and PNR," DOTr Secretary Bautista said.

The Department of Education (DepEd), now under Vice-President Sara Duterte, estimates that more than 38,000 schools in the country are already set for the resumption of face-to-face classes for the school year 2022-2023.

The southbound and northbound fares actually vary. End-to-end travel from Monumento to PITX costs P75.50, while PITX to Monumento costs only P73. This is probably because of the varying number of stops for the northbound and southbound routes.

2024 Update!

The EDSA Carousel Bus Schedule operates around the clock, offering 24/7 service along the busway. However, the frequency of buses varies based on the operating hours of the bus companies. Consequently, there may be fewer buses, especially during the early hours, resulting in longer waiting times at certain stops, particularly between 1:00 AM and 4:00 AM.
