Tagaytay is part of the province of Cavite in southern Philippines. It has a mild climate and breathtaking scenery.
People from all walks of life come to visit this one-of-a-kind place to enjoy the magnificent view of the famous Taal lake.
Although Baguio is my favorite city, Tagaytay is more accessible to me. I love to visit here specially during summer and off-season where I enjoy the fog and the cold weather. That's why I have already visited this place so many times even I reside in Metro Manila.
Last 2018, I've been to this city for 4 times including the 1-week Tagaytay staycation and the one I had for a photoshoot that only took me 2-3 hours stay in Tagaytay. Maybe, that's the reason why many of us - Filipinos and foreigners keep coming back to Tagaytay.
Tagaytay is relatively close to the capital city of Manila, only 59 kilometres (37 miles) away via Aguinaldo Highway, providing an easy escape for the locals from the heat of the huge metropolis.

- Tagaytay is technically part of Cavite province not Batangas.
- The name “Tagaytay” comes from the words “taga” meaning to cut, and “Itay,” referring to one’s father. According to legend, a father and son hunting down a wild boar suddenly found themselves at the receiving end of the animal’s rampage.
- With an elevation of 634 meters above sea level, Tagaytay’s average temperature is 24 degrees Celsius. The lowest ever recorder temperature was in January 2014, when temperatures plunged to 18 degrees Celsius.
- Taal Volcano is NOT part of Tagaytay City. It belongs to 2 municipalities and a city in Batangas - Talisay, San Nicolas and Batangas City.
- Tagaytay also houses malls like Ayala Malls, SM Malls, Robinsons and Filinvest Lifemalls and attractions like Sky Ranch.
- Major banks and payment services are also available in the city.
- Big convenience stores, drugstores and fastfood are also seen here.
BEST TIME TO VISIT TAGAYTAY
If you really want to enjoy the cold Tagaytay weather, then the best time to go to Tagaytay is during the cooler months of the year, that is, from November to February. It may seem like a good idea to go during the summer months of March to June, but the temperature is really almost the same as that in Metro Manila—hot and humid.
But if you'd like to experience the fog in the city, better go between the rainy months of June to October. During those months and the chances of encountering a foggy Tagaytay is also high.
