DILG Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs Martin Diño reminded barangay officials of the President’s order for them to render service amid the enhanced community quarantine.

The DILG Undersecretary said that the barangay governments will lead in the distribution of food from the Department of Social Welfare and Development to Luzon citizens. He also urged the barangay officials to utilize their resources to aid affected residents.

“Kung hindi kayo kikilos baka hindi kayo aabot nitong buwan or next month. Wala na kayo sa puwesto niyo.  Imomonitor namin kayo ng DILG dahil obligasyon niyo,” he said.

Diño urged barangay officials to utilize their resources to aid affected residents.

“Tinatawagan  natin all barangays, lalo na  mga kapitan, gamitin niyo ang resources niyo. Lahat ng mga sasakyan, na gamitin niyo sa mga nangangailangan na dadalhin sa ospital, o kung malayo sa grocery,” he said.

He is pleading to all the residents of the barangays that if their captain and barangay officials are not doing anything, report them to the DILG.

"Pakiusap ko naman sa mga mamamayan ng barangay kapag ang kapitan niyo, barangay officials niyo ay tutulog-tulog, i-report niyo ‘yan,” he said.

Diño, who served as barangay chairman for 17 years, said that he will make sure that rogue barangay officials who sell or even attempt to sell the relief goods provided by the government will rot in jail.

He reminded them that “ang barangay ay serbisyo publiko at hindi negosyo (barangays are for public service and not for business ventures)’’ and called on those who have hidden agenda to resign and do their own business venturing ways as private citizens.

He urged them to fully utilize their resources to aid affected residents even those who were against them during the elections.
