The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has approved the Petition for Approval of the Additional Toll Rate for Phase 1 of Segment 1 (R1 Expressway) Enhancement of the Manila Cavite Expressway Project, jointly filed by the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) and the Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC) granting the authority to collect the add on toll rates effective on October 24, 2019. This means that the expressway operator can start collecting additional P1.00, P2.00, and P3.00 for Vehicle Class 1, 2, and 3. Making the toll rates for the 7-kilometer CAVITEX Segment 1 (R1) P25, P50, and P75 respectively.
“CAVITEX has heavily invested to improve and enhance the services for its motorists, so this is a very important development for us, to be able to keep on delivering our promise of high quality and safe expressway,” said CIC President Bobby Bontia.
The existing toll at the CAVITEX is P24 for the seven-kilometer stretch for class 1 vehicles, P48 for class 2 and P72 for class 3.
Bontia underscores that “CIC has been investing in the upkeep and improvement of CAVITEX to prevent deterioration of the expressway and maintain its high-quality standards since we started our operations. Our holding company Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) has taken over the CIC concession in 2013 and immediately a year after, undertook a road resurfacing project for the R1 segment to give motorists a better experience.”
CIC continues to work on a P1.1-billion enhancement of the CAVITEX, phase 1 of which is the P800-million widening of lanes and construction of a left-turn facility at the Marina flyover which opened last December 2018; and construction is ongoing for phase 2 the P300-million widening of bridges in Wawa, Las Piñas, and Parañaque which is expected to finish by May of 2020.
