Consequently, education has always been the top-priority of our city government, that is why it boasts 57,318 proud scholars.
Among them, 2,153 licensed professionals, 33 top 10 board placers, and 324 honor college graduates have been produced by the Taguig City’s scholarship.
In fact, this year’s city budget has risen from 5 million (2010) to 675 million pesos (2019) for scholarship programs alone – highest in the Philippines.
There are also more than 8,000 TLC (Taguig Learners Certificate) scholars whose tuition fee and miscellaneous fee are free and shouldered by Taguig. This scholarship is to those graduating from public elementary schools and will continue high school in partner private schools in the city.
Aside from this, high school students are given LANDBANK accounts for their monthly allowances alongside seminars for financial literacy. In addition to that, those who are sent to trainings and competitions are fully subsidized.
Here in Taguig, education is ensured to be free, accessible to all, and attain utmost quality; starting from Kindergarten even up to Doctorate degree.

Although Taguig is highly urbanized, enhancing its agriculture seeks balance between modernization and tradition in the city. This allows Taguig to remain as ‘probinsyudad’.
Taguig has integrated urban farm along C6 road which is also a way to alleviate the expenses of Taguigenos due to its raw products as well as to promote a greener city.
In line with this, there is also Market on Wheels program that aims to ease the financial burden of consumers by selling products at prices that are much lower than those from the supermarkets.
This initiative led to a partnership with the city government which enabled Taguigeño residents to avail affordable products sold at covered courts which were turned into a marketplace for selected days.
One of the issues that plagues our country as a whole is our addiction to never ending debt. As a result, the government had “to squeeze basic services and maintenance expenditures, reduce investment in infrastructure, incur huge deficits, and raise taxes and user fees to service the debt,” the UP report said.

Roughly around 1.6 billion pesos was fully paid by the city government which was incurred from the previous administration.

“The city simultaneously activated Wi-Fi hotspots in 28 barangay halls, 31 health centers, 3 Super Health Centers and 6 other locations: Taguig City University, Taguig City Hall, Lakeshore Hall, Mercado Del Lago, TLC Park and the Taguig Pateros District Hospital (TPDH).”
