They bring the modern Mediterranean cuisine in Manila!


ABOUT NOOR MANILA

Noor is a Modern Mediterranean restaurant in Bonifacio Global City that offers contemporary interpretation for authentic food and vibe around the Mediterranean Sea.

 One of my favorite highlights whenever we visit restaurants is to get the chance to have a chat with the owners. We get to learn about where they came from and what's the story behind the food that they serve.

We get to see how passionate they are in what they do and we get to enjoy the food served to us even more. Noor's story is one of our favorites so far.


 Chef Or Hakmimi and his wife, Tair, are Israeli couple who had been living in the country for several years now. With the love of Filipino people for food and how we are all open to explore different type of cuisines, it gave them the idea of opening the resto.

 Noor, which means “light” or “flame” in ancient Hebrew text, was put up August this year with the goal of bringing Mediterranean cuisine with a twist of Euro-Israeli flavors.

 Cam, their marketing manager, and Chef Or joined us and introduced each dish as they were served.

They started off with a bomb. Cauliflower. They said it's one of their best sellers. One bite and we knew what they were talking about. THIS.IS.THE.NEW.MOJOS! I am not kidding!

Who would have thought cauliflowers with caesar aioli and parsley can be this comforting? It is deep fried to perfection, with just the right crunch in every bite.


Lamb Baklava is a meat pie, made with fillo pastry, and cut in a way similar to the sweet nut baklava, this one has ground lamb meat.

It is much lighter than a traditional meat pie with sesame dressing, and all flavor gets balanced with the raspberry sauce.



Moroccan cigars are like "lumpia" right off the bat. It is meat-filled in crispy phyllo sheets. We tried the short rib and fish Moroccan cigars. The short rib has the spicy flavor to it, while the fish was grilled or fried first before rolled in the phyllo sheets and fried again, which give the crunchy coating of the fish, while having the soft fish meat on the inside. Both are very flavorful and served with their satay garlic aioli or Harissa which is a delicious Moroccan chili paste.

Trivia: Chef Or narrates that unlike lumpia, which is a regular food here in the Philpinnes which can be bought anywhere or cooked any time, Moroccan cigars are only served during weddings or other formal occasions.

HOW TO GET TO NOOR MANILA

Noor is one of the restaurants lined up along the Forbestown Road near Burgos Circle in BGC. You can just follow my BGC Bus guide for public commuting.

 However, if you'll bring a private vehicle, you can just search them on Google Maps or Waze app. There are a few parking lots available around Forbestown Center.

 Or you can Book a Grab ride straight to Noor Manila.
