Despite of being tag as "The Land of the Howling Winds", this 12th largest island in the Philippines has a lot to offer.A landmass nearest to Pacific Ocean, white sand beaches, old stone churches, prehistoric caves, refreshingly waterfalls, majestic waves(a surfer's must try), a cheaper Batanes counterpart, and the warm Catandungan locals, one will definitely leave the place with a wide smile, proving how locals dubbed it as "The Happy Island"

- You can pitch tent for cheaper accomodation just bring your own, tent pitching is only 200pesos a day.
- Choose UV Express when going to Puraran Resort(100 fare) for comfortable ride(1 hour),also it leaves as soon as it's already full..
- You can walk going down to the resort upon arrival at Puraran Resort(20 mins) or ride a trike
- You can bring foods for lesser expenses with no corkage fee, or you can cook there, just bring utensils.Foods are a bit pricey.
- Tourguide is a must in Binurong Point(for safety reasons and photo ops
- Try to haggle the agreed tour price.
- Surfing board and surfing lesson is 350 per hour.(Try befriending the other guest/host so you can just borrow the board instead of renting if your reason is only to take pictures with it use charms)

Here are your travel options to Catanduanes:
Via Plane
The easiest way to get to Catanduanes is to book a flight to Virac. There's direct flights from NAIA terminal 3 in Manila every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.Via Land
For cheaper alternative (lakas makapamanhid ng pwet bes), take a bus bound to Tabaco City from Cubao, Pasay or Alabang.Fare is around 700-900 petot, airconditioned bus.From Tabaco terminal, ride a padyak/trike to Tabaco Port, fare is 10petot.
NOTE: Please be reminded of the ferry schedule below
- Roro going to Virac leaves at 6:30am, approximately 3-4 hours travel time.(Fare is 230 petot per adult)
- Roro going to San Andres port leaves at 7am and 1pm, approximately 3hours travel time and 1 1/2 hours for fastcraft. (Fare is 320 petot sa fastcraft)
