Here's your guide to the unfiltered beauty of Sampaloc Beach.

If you already heard of Anawangin, Nagsasa and Talisayen, Sampaloc is another cove you can find along the peninsula of the Municipality of San Antonio where Mt. Pundaquit is located and the Municipality of Subic in the province of Zambales.

These beach coves are known for being secluded and uncrowded because of their location. You have to take at least an hour boat ride to reach any of them. But the natural beauty and rawness of the place is definitely worth it!

WHAT TO EXPECT BEFORE GOING TO SAMPALOC BEACH

Sampaloc Beach gives you a serene ambiance with only where you can see sea, sand and sky in front of the beach and lush green to the mountains.

You will notice unspoiled calm waters of the sea which is technically part of the West Philippine Sea.

Boat ride to Sampaloc Cove

Sampaloc Cove is inhabited by a group of Aetas. The Zambal Aeta people, who had inhabited the great island of Luzon in the western Pacific, learnt the secrets of natural world and has mastered living purely with nature.

It is this legacy of the Aeta that still hovers precariously within the only intact forests in the region. Concurrently, the demands for ‘remote’, ‘natural’ and ‘exotic’ environments of the Aeta people have created an upsurge in ecotourism ventures.

HOW TO GET TO SAMPALOC COVE

Sampaloc Cove in Sitio Cawag is part of the Subic Town. It is 14kms away from the Lighthouse Marina Resort via boat, located at the mouth of Subic Bay along Redondo Peninsula.

There is no road access to the cove and to go to the nearest town, will take more than half a day by foot which is similar to the many coves along the Zambales coastline.

ITINERARY / EXPENSES

Bus from Manila-Subic (not sure about the fare because we used a private transpo but it's more or less 500-600 roundtrip)
Get off at the Subic Municipal Hall and go to the fishport
Hire a boat to Sampaloc Beach (2500/RT good for 10 pax). Note that the rate depends on youtr haggling skills. Travel time is 1.5hours😀
Pay the camping fee of 100 pesos
Cottage Rental: 300

THINGS TO REMEMBER

Here are some important things you need to consider while staying at Sampaloc Cove:

From zero to weak phone coverage (any network)
No sari-sari stores
Bring own bonfire (you can buy from the town market)
