Creepy yet magical? Here's the story of the "abandoned castle in the Philippines".

If there's a Disneyland in the Philippines, this piece of land in Lemery, Batangas must be the closest one in comparison. However, the dream of a Filipino kid going to the said theme park isn't possible anymore (not really). Fantasy World is an unfinished dream that we once looking forward to.

Fantasy World Philippines is a family entertainment facility, theme amusement and recreation club park. It is located on top of the soft rolling mountain ridge overlooking the clear panoramic views of Taal Lake and Volcano.

After its completion, facilities will consist of golf & country club, hotel, condotels and residential houses.

The site was chosen for Fantasy World by the proponents for its mild climate, purity of air, and closeness to Metro Manila and the Southern Provinces.

Fantasy World used to be the main set location for the local fantasy-themed television series by GMA Network entitled Majika.

Top billed by Angel Locsin and Dennis Trillo. That was back in 2006 when the theme park was still quite new and well maintained, a far cry from its current state today with its rapidly dilapidating walls, which can be seen even from the highway.

Entrance to Fantasy World will be through the main gateway along Diokno Highway. Entry to the site can be from any of the six (6) major road networks.

Fantasy World Theme Parks, Amusement and Recreation Club, Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit corporation established primarily as a membership club which will operate and maintain a country club, amusement theme park and water park for the exclusive use and benefit of its members, their families and guests.

Fantasy World offers a complete family entertainment facility similar to those found in Disneyland, Disneyworld, Universal Studios, and other amusement and theme parks found throughout the world.

Located along Diokno Highway, this seemingly straight-from-a-storybook structure was initially designed to be a resort, country club, amusement theme park and water park exclusive to members, their families and their guest, much like the Tagaytay Highlands.

There are also residential buildings inside the complex offering a magnificent view of Taal. However, the planned rides and other establishments of the amusement park never materialized since construction was halted due to financial problems.

FANTASY WORLD TODAY

Nowadays, Fantasy World is quite famous for soon-to-wed couples as a prenup photo shoot site. Non-members and tourists can get in and tour this medieval castle for a fee of Php1,000, regardless of whether they're going in alone or with a group of up to 10 people. Or better yet, ask a member to accompany you so can get in for free.

The park is currently being managed by the homeowners association inside the complex. It's not really a main attraction since it's totally abandoned (although it's being maintained).

HOW TO GET TO FANTASY WORLD

There are several options on how to get to Fantasy World depending on where you’re coming from.

From Manila (via Nasugbu)

1. Ride a bus going to Nasugbu, Batangas. Ask the conductor to drop you off at the “boundary”. There are several bus lines to choose from such as Crow and DLTB. Tickets cost only about 170 pesos each. (Php 170)
2. From the boundary, ride a tricycle for 10 pesos. Ask the driver to take you to the where you can take a Lemery-Boundary jeep. (Php 10)
3. Ride a jeep and it will drop you off at the entrance of Fantasy World. (Php 15)
4. Total: Php 195 one-way

     CHECK BUS SCHEDULE HERE     

From Manila (via Lipa)

1. Go to Jam Liner bus station. You can choose from two branches – 1) in Timog Avenue in Quezon City; and 2) the other is in LRT Buendia in Pasay – and look for the bus with “Lemery” signage. Trips to Lemery are available as early as 4am, and a bus departs every hour or depending on the number of passengers. (Php 186)
2. Alight at Lemery Jam Liner bus station.
3. Look for a tricycle to get you to the jeepney terminal going to the “boundary”. Beware, however, some tricycle drivers might offer to take you directly to Fantasy World in a very steep price. (Php 10)
4. Just take a jeep. (Php 32)
5. Total: Php 228 one-way

For those who are bringing own vehicle, you may use Waze or Google Maps for directions. If you don’t have a private vehicle, you can rent a car or van here.
